phsBlog 0.2 Released

posted 03.04.2008 16:06

phsBlog 0.2 is here, and quite a few changes are coming along with it.

New install work the same as 0.1.1; Upgrade has a script for you to run - full instructions are in the download.

Changes:

*Ability to ban user by IP
*Error handling function to get rid of ugly errors
*Administrative functions for comments in ACP
*CSS cleaned up
*HTML is valid XHTML 1.0 Strict
*No more problems with sessions/ACP (having to log in twice - this is what prompted the change from baseurl to installpath)
*All inputted data is now sanitized (prevents SQL injection)
*Changed the layout a bit in the ACP to make it a bit more intuitive

Well, off the top of my head that's all I can think of. I'll run through tomorrow and do the official change log entry, but for now, enjoy!

phsBlog Update: 0.2 in the Works

posted 28.03.2008 13:49

Hopefully some of you out there have downloaded and installed phsBlog 0.1.1, and I have good news for you! The next version, 0.2, is getting close to finished up. 0.2 won't have all of the features from the last post that were in the to-do list, but it definitely has some improvements from 0.1.1. The following are the changes that are, as of now, what are in 0.2:

  • Error handling function (formatted errors, not just a white page with text)

  • Administration of comments in the ACP

  • front-end CSS cleaned up (ACP CSS should be before release as well)

  • Ban visitor by IP address

  • Fixed sessions issue when logging in to the ACP

  • front-end HTML validates to XHTML 1.0 Strict

phsBlog Update: To-Do, Changes

posted 08.03.2008 17:59

Well, now that the first release of phsBlog is out, that means that it's time to get started on the next version! In the next version you can expect to gain a lot more functionality, and to give you a better idea of that we will periodically be posting our To-Do list up here, as well as a list of the changes we've already made. The most current of both follow:

To-Do List:

* Error handling function (errors rendered on default template page instead of just die())
* Comment administration
* Add permissionlevel to each action, and take into account the userlevel before a user can do something
* Style system
* Create/edit styles in the ACP (Admin Control Panel)
* Clean up the CSS
* Search
* Ban guests/commenters by IP
* Allow for tagging of entries
* Allow for nested categories
* Language files
* Archive
* Fix session issue with login on ACP
* User registration for posting comments (quicker, reservation of a handle)
* When deleting ACP user or category, let user pick whether to set author/category to none, anonymous, etc - as fitting
* Admin log - track actions of all users with access to admin by uid and IP
* Change the install process to use the default template

Done:

* HTML validates to XHTML 1.0 Strict

posted 02.03.2008 11:42

First, welcome to the phsDev website. You'll be able to find all relevant information about both phsBlog and phsForum on this website as soon as it becomes available.

phsBlog is almost ready for it's first beta release. It does not have all of the features that it will once it is released as a final version, but it is at a point where it is completely functional.

If you're interested in it, we ask that you go ahead and download and install it, and please report back to us with bugs or things that you would like to see in it!
